Commedia del?Arte Workshop

Commedia del?Arte is the famous and historic theatrical form consisting of improvised comedies played out by archetypal characters — for example, the clown servant (Harlequin), the suspicious father (Pantalone), the young lovers, and the pedantic doctor.

The techniques and plots of Commedia have survived into modern times through the work of such comics as Charlie Chaplin or Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy.

The Workshop consists of games and exercises, the acquisition of training skills, and mask work.

Sample dialogue and specific blocking are introduced into later games and scenarios.

The workshop provides a useful tool in any actor?s training and a discipline for all forms of physical theatre.

But it also delivers enormous benefits in appreciation, understanding, and self-expression for any participant.
